THE VEDAS

The Vedas are thousands of years old scripts, in Sanskrit, and they are divided into four parts:
Rig Veda: mainly covering philosophy, cosmology and rituals to praise the Gods, of which there are quite the number
Sama Veda: dealing mainly with poetry, songs and music to align those with cosmic principles
Atharva Veda: here we find regulations for practices by the priests (Brahmins) and also for the householders to connect with the gods.
Ayur Veda: this reveals the science of health, life and longevity explained in detail for all to see and use.

Being an Ayurvedic Physician myself, it should come as no surprise, I have chosen to focus on AYUR VEDA, which has had, and still has a profound impact on my life and health.

Just to mention the Covid pandemic as an example: I am quite certain all the spices I used for cooking would have burned away any virus trying to come my way...but be careful and gentle, because it burns, I am telling you...

Ayur Veda is NOT vegan as there is use of alcohol and dairy, and some physicians even recommend the consumption of meat and seafood.
I am against that practise, but that should be no argument to discard Ayur Veda as a whole. We are free to choose what makes sense to us, which is exactly what I have done.

The entire universe and all of us, who live in it, is comprised of the five elements:
Space: the area in which air moves
Air: gaseous forms of matter
Water: the liquid form of matter
Fire: the radiant and hot form of matter
Earth: solid form of matter

These elements are around us, and within us, and one aim of Ayur Veda is to keep those ever-changing-in-a-cosmic-dance-elements in a fluid balance. When that can be maintained, we are healthy; when not, diseases appear!

Since Ayur Veda is a holistic science there is no separation between physical health, mental health and consciousness. Every single living being is one unit and must be seen and treated, as such.

Imbalances in the body will affect the mental health; disturbances of our mental health will affect our physical health, and consciousness.

What is unique to Ayur Veda is the system of three Doshas; governing principles. They can be viewed as ways the elements, which they consist of, tell us about the situation in and around us, long before illnesses and imbalances become apparent.

There are three Doshas:
VATA: composed of the elements AIR and SPACE
PITTA: composed of the elements FIRE and WATER
KAPHA: composed of the elements EARTH and WATER

There are two steps for self-assessment of your holistic situation:
PRAKRUTI: your Mind-Body constitution; what you were born with; this covers genetics and epi-genetics
VIKRUTI: your current situation as it manifests in your daily life.

Many websites will give you the possibility to test those; just be careful to take them from certified Ayur Vedic physicians who offers them for free.
Note down the results in your journal, as well as the date and year, and repeat those tests on a regular basis.

There is a logical way to go about this self-assessment:
1) Determine your VIKRUTI (where you are now)
2) Determine your PRAKRUTI (what you are aiming for)
3) Find your main imbalances
4) Stabilise your Doshas according to diet and life-style recommendations
5) Keep an eye on your progress
6) When you can see and feel, your ratio of your Vikruti has come fairly close to your Prakruti just keep up the balance with a regular, appropriate life-style regimen.

If you combine this profound knowledge with some of the advice given here for a vegan diet and non-harming life-style you should be able to see results emerging over the course of some months.

And keep in mind: the longer you persist in this holistic direction the stronger and healthier you will become.
Trust me...I speak from personal experience...

Now: remember always to consult your health care provider before embarking on this kind of journey: Ayur Veda is not meant to treat serious illness but is a regimen to keep you healthy and in balance in your day-to-day life.

Add Hatha Yoga, Breathing Exercises, massages and maybe even dive into "Five Senses Therapy" to enrich your days and nights with beautiful sights, sounds and smells. All of it are door ways into your inner you; there is not, nor should there be, any separation between your inner life and your outer life.

Keep at it, my friends, focus on the beauty and magic in life, take it all in, grow, blossom and be in balance...love you all...
