NATURAL RESOURCES

COMPASSION FOR PLANET EARTH:
Have we, as a species, become oblivious to the damage we are causing to the environment?
It is as if there is no end to human consumption, destruction and greed.

We pollute the waterways, pretending the toxic waste will just, by magic, "go somewhere else", which of course it can not do. This is the fresh water, we, and all living beings on this planet, use for drinking water. It is no longer fresh, and clear, and clean, and has not been for quite some time.

The amount of waste, we dump into the oceans make the living beings there die, suffocate and develop degenerative diseases, we have caused.
But, never mind; we do not live in the water, so we close our eyes, and pretend, it does not matter that much.

We send endless stuff into space, having it circulate out there forever, until something collides with something else, and the whole thing lands on our heads.

We pollute the air we breathe from aviation, cars, factories and other nasty pollutants. Each and every day thousands of people die from respiratory diseases, caused by air pollution, but we do not know them, so we turn a blind eye.

The soil, which has taken ages to form and nourish, and which we need to grow food in, is so intoxicated and polluted, it makes the crop inedible, unless, of course, there is no crop because of extreme heat, or lack of rain, or too much rain, or the soil has disappeared due to landslides, or because of a hurricane, or floods, or volcanoes erupting or a Polar Vortex suddenly deciding to pay an unannounced visit....out of the blue.

As if this was not enough to completely destroy our natural environment, we now have the effects of Global Warming to deal with: rising temperatures, extreme summers and winters, raging wildfires, extreme drought. These things are terrible for us humans, but they are even worse for the environment and the wildlife living there.

And on top of all that, we still continue to have animal agriculture and factory farming. The devastation to the environment is obvious: waterways get even more polluted with animal waste to a point, where the toxins can no longer be removed, people in the area get sick, the groundwater is a health hazard.

Land, we should use for growing crops is used for grazing of animals, and for growing food for them. There are statistics indicating the amount of grain grown for animal feed each year is enough to feed more than 4 billion humans annually.

We only have this one planet. We must wake up and realise, just how bad the destruction of the environment is, and just how much animal agriculture contributes to all of this. Seeing reality for what it is, is the only way to work for a change of the causes and conditions, which created this mess in the first place.

We have created this; we have established animal agriculture; we have the duty to change the direction of the natural environment and turn the whole thing around before it all collapses in total environmental disaster.
