AUTUMN EQUINOX

From Winter Solstice through Spring Equinox and until Summer Solstice is one big exhalation and opening of Nature, of the elements, of all that lives. We come to life, all of us...

From Summer Solstice through Autumn Equinox and until Winter Solstice is one big inhalation and gradual closing down of Nature, of the elements, of all that lives.
We gather life inside of us to preserve it for the next season...

Winter is preserving and resting
Spring is opening and growing
Summer is blossoming and ripening
Autumn is harvesting

Thus it goes on in a Divine rhythm which we are fortunate enough to experience and to be a part of.
For that I am eternally grateful and it is something I think about every day: may Nature prevail and may we be able to assist in that process...

Autumn Equinox is, like its Spring cousin, the time of year when days and nights are of equal length, in Autumn heading for the days to become shorter and the nights to become longer.

We celebrate this crucial time of year on the 21st or the 22nd of September, exactly six months after we celebrate Spring Equinox.

Autumn Equinox is the time when we can harvest what was planted: pick your own fruit in your garden or in a gardener's orchard; talk to a farmer about picking berries, which so neatly ripen in Autumn; harvest vegetables, especially root crops; collect seeds and dry them for the next year.

We feel grateful for what Nature has given us, and we store and preserve the produce to make it last for long; having a bite of a delicious apple during mid Winter reminds us of, what was and what is to come.

Another fun part of Autumn Equinox is KITES, which has stayed with me since I was a little girl, and my skilful Dad build my first kite.

Buy, design, build or assemble kites and go to places where you can fly them.

There is nothing more Autumny for me than a bunch of happy kids with kites of all sizes, colours and shapes running up and down the hills to catch the best wind to fly their kite.

That light in their eyes is precious, and at the same time they learn the aerodynamic principles of flying with or against the wind, while they are advised to avoid the top of the hill where the winds are moving in circles, easily dipping and crashing their precious kites.

Run, my dear friends; build kites with kids or for your self; become like a child again; calling on all of you to master the skills of kite-building-and-flying...and consider what kind of kite would be in for next year...

Wishing you a wonderful Autumn Equinox...
