HOME SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION:
This online "Home School" can be used according to the situation in your family: you can do it full time, you can do it for some time or you can implement the activities suggested here as an addition for the growth of your child, being educated somewhere else.

Based upon more than half a century of experience as an educator of all ages, I find it most helpful, for the purpose of "Home School", to divide the activities according to, when the individual child shows signs of developing certain skills.

THE PHASES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1) From birth until the child speaks the first word.
2) From the first word is spoken until the "Temper Tantrums" of mentally separating "me" from "them" has calmed down, and they care able to focus on reading and writing.
3) From the child can read and write letters and until the hormones start to kick in and they cross Rubicon.
4) From crossing Rubicon until the intellectual ability for abstract thinking emerges.
5) From the intellectual capacity for abstract, analytical thinking is manifest and until the young adult is ready for entrance exams for further education, which is beyond "Home School".

Bear in mind, the phases will always overlap; when one aspect is being worked on, another will most certainly start to sprout, and yet another will begin to fade away, only to emerge later at a higher level.

Being able to manage such an ever changing environment is great fun. No two days are the same. Remember to note down your observations during the day, because in the continuous circle of planning, executing and evaluating teaching the key to success is being mindful.

HOME SCHOOL WEEKLY SCHEDULE:
I always wondered: Why have we created our curriculi around ever changing topics and classrooms, circulating every 45 minutes, or so? Who came up with that idea?
Most certainly not anyone, who would want to learn, because that process requires immersion into a subject over a prolonged period of time!

Each day of the week in this "Home School" will have its own theme, except for Friday and Saturday, which have two, and Sunday, which has three.

WEDNESDAY: MATHEMATICAL INTELLIGENCE
THURSDAY: TECHNOLOGICAL INTELLIGENCE
FRIDAY: KINESTHETICS and MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE
SATURDAY: VISUAL/SPATIAL and CULINARY INTELLIGENCE
SUNDAY: INTER PERSONAL and INTRA PERSONAL and NATURALISTIC INTELLIGENCE

If this modest "Home School" can assist you to lift children to develop, grow and blossom into who they truly have it in them to become, it is so worth it, and is the only reward I would want!
