DENTAL MERIDIANS
WHAT ARE MERIDIANS?
The human body is the abode of thousands of meridians and nerve ways, which are placed throughout the body in a somewhat orderly manner, though individual differences occur.
Meridians, which pass through, and around, a certain organ, will also have a connection to our teeth. It is fascinating to think that we have been given such a refined, sophisticated body, and it demands respect and humility to try our best to take care of it.
WHY DO MERIDIANS MATTER:
Think of meridians as pipes; they can be twisted, swollen, blocked or damaged, in which case they do not function properly, and the energy can not flow freely throughout the body.
We must do our best to keep them clean and running, both for our overall health, but most certainly also for our DENTAL HEALTH.
WHERE ARE THE MERIDIANS LOCATED?
From Ancient Chinese medicine, and Ancient Vedic cultures, we have a pretty good idea, of where they are.
Some parts of of them are hidden deep in the muscles and other tissue; other parts surface on the skin, for us to reach them.
ACUPUNCTURE:
Many people experience a relief from using Acupuncture, but let me warn you: it has to be someone, who specialises in Dental Health, which is one of the most complex aspects of that practise. Inquire about the knowledge and experience of the Acupuncturist, before booking an appointment.
MASSAGE:
Where the meridians surface (no pun intended) on your face, ears, hands and feet you can massage gently, in circles, to lessen tension in the muscles and tissues, thereby giving more space for the meridians to function freely.
There are many charts available for you to look into in order to find, what is your main area of concern at any given time.
YOGA ASANAS:
There is substantial knowledge and experience within the Yogic culture concerning the connection between working with the meridians and physical health. Do have patience; this is a long-term strategy, and miracles will not happen over night. But gradually, over the weeks and months, you should be able to see improvements.
As you will see from the chart for this portfolio, the 32 teeth are grouped into four groups with 8 teeth each. The numbers start at the front and moves towards the ears. Even though you might not have all your teeth left, the meridians are still there.
I recommend the following Asanas to help increasing the energy and flow of the meridians. The Asanas will, of course, also work to stimulate blood and lymph circulation, as well as giving impulses to the organs in mention:
KIDNEY and BLADDER, teeth 1 + 2:
Paripurna Nav Asana
Salamba Sarvang Asana
LIVER and GALLBLADDER, tooth 3:
Namashkar Asana
Urdhva Mukha Svan Asana
LUNGS and LARGE INTESTINE, teeth 4 + 5:
Utthita Parsvakon Asana
Uttan Asana
STOMACH and PANCREAS, teeth 6 + 7:
Setu Bandha Sarvang Asana
Ardha Matsyendr Asana
HEART and SMALL INTESTINE, tooth 8:
Uttana Shishosana
Trikon Asana
I wish you the very best of luck integrating these not so difficult Asanas into your daily routine.
Start with two repetitions, then gradually go up to no more than seven each.
Your body, mind and teeth will thank you, over time.
Be persistent!
Just keep at it!
